A Business Born from Necessity

GH Produce began in 2014 when Glen, already a working chef, discovered he had a gluten intolerance. At the time, quality gluten-free options were hard to come by. Drawing on his culinary skills, Glen decided to develop his own products. As he puts it, “I was like right, I'm going to start making my own high quality products. I started making granola first and then boom never looked back haha.”

From that single product, GH Produce has grown into a recognised brand within the metro and South West regions, known for its health-conscious and flavourful offerings.

From Executive Chef to Market Favourite

Before launching GH Produce, Glen was the executive chef of two cafes and also worked as a personal trainer. Today, GH Produce is his full-time focus, and he’s been bringing his creations to Manning Road Farmers Market since 2023. However, his market journey started much earlier, having been a regular at other Perth markets since 2016.

Glen brings a chef’s discipline and attention to detail to everything he produces. “We are unique in that all our products are chef designed by myself. I go through hours and hours of R+D (research & development) before a product is released,” he explains. Each recipe is refined and tested to meet his high standards, and only the finest ingredients are used.

Highlighting Local and Native Ingredients

One of the things that makes GH Produce particularly special is Glen’s incorporation of native Australian bush foods into his recipes. His deep connection to Country influences the way he sources and creates, with an emphasis on sustainable, local, and ethically chosen ingredients.

Glen shares that some customers have been with him from the very beginning: “When I still serve customers that have been with me from the early days and see their [kids] grow up, that's pretty cool! I have had some customers for over 10 years which is so amazing!”

Since joining Manning Road Farmers Market, Glen has become a valued part of the community of stallholders and customers. He describes the market as having “lovely customers and stall holders, good vibes and the best producers in Perth!”

Challenges and Adaptability

Like many small business owners, Glen has navigated his share of ups and downs. “Controlling cash flow and unpredictable sales” are two of the main challenges he’s faced. Rather than chasing wholesale opportunities, GH Produce has focused on local markets and its online store to maintain control and connection with customers. Glen also supplements the business with private chef experiences, which offer a second revenue stream.

Collaborations and Community Contribution

Glen is committed to supporting the local community through both his sourcing and collaborations. In his private catering, he works directly with small farms and producers, building seasonal menus around their offerings. GH Produce also collaborates with other market businesses — for example, their Lemon Melaleuca tea is available at Majesteas, a fellow Manning Road stallholder.

Looking Ahead

With a strong and loyal customer base, Glen is now focused on refining GH Produce’s offerings and expanding its creative reach. “We will continue fine tuning our brand now that we have a pretty solid product range and following,” he shares. Upcoming projects include cookbooks and adventure videos — exciting new ways to share his passion for food, health, and connection.
